about me
My name is Jonah Blank and my Bar Mitzvah is December 12, 2020. It’s the second night of Hanukkah. For my Bar Mitzvah project I have been volunteering with Fur Kids, an animal rescue organization that finds homes for abandoned dogs and cats. I have been taking care of the cats in the Fur Kids shelter room at my local PetCo. To help even more cats and dogs, I am raising money to donate to Fur Kids in honor of my Bar Mitzvah.
For the High Holidays my synagogue, Congregation Or Hadash, sold photo cut-outs of members so the sanctuary would be filled with people, even though we are all staying home to be safe.
For Hanukkah we are hoping to fill the seats with pet photos! I call it “Bark with the Ark and the Hanukkats.” For $36 you can purchase a photo cut-out of your pet’s face. As I am reading from the Torah on December 12th I will be surrounded by your cats and dogs (or lizards, birds, hamsters)!
We are no longer accepting photos.
